Measure the basket, not just the machine label
A machine described as a 58 mm system does not establish the exact internal diameter of every basket. Basket walls, rim geometry and manufacturing tolerances vary. Confirm the basket model and measure at the intended tamping depth before selecting a base diameter.
Check clearance and technique
The tamper should travel without binding. An excessively tight fit can make removal difficult, while an undersized base may leave an uneven edge. Test a sample in the actual basket, with a representative coffee dose.
Separate leveling from pressure control
A spring-loaded tamper may support a repeatable action. A leveling flange may support a flatter tamp. These are different functions, and the presence of one does not confirm the other. Ask for the mechanism, adjustment method and cleaning instructions.
For wholesale projects
Confirm the actual base diameter, flatness, contact material, handle joint, surface finish and logo position. Agree on sample acceptance before production. A material grade alone does not establish finished-product food-contact compliance.
